The King and Queen of Cups<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The King and queens of cousin realms had gathered round to play<\/p>\n

And each of them chose a suit to be theirs for the day.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Midrealm King pulled forth a card, on which a sword was laid,<\/p>\n

And loudly started telling of the wondrous choice he’d made.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe swords the thing,\u201d said Dragon King, \u201cto win the games we play.<\/p>\n

For as it rules upon the field shall I rule here this day.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Young Northshield\u2019s crown produced a card, emblazoned with a staff,<\/p>\n

And quickly spoke to reassure he had not made a gaffe.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe staff is right,\u201d said Griffon crown, \u201cYou\u2019ll see it in the end.<\/p>\n

A sword may strike but oaken staff a people will defend.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Next came lupine Ealdormere, a scarlet pentacle adorned,<\/p>\n

And spoke to save a suit that other crowns had hereto scorned.<\/p>\n

The Queen announced \u201cIt\u2019s wisdom that the pentacle bestows,\u201d<\/p>\n

Her King agreed that this was far mightier than blows.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Last spoke great Damien, and fair Issabell as one,<\/p>\n

To show their chosen suit and show what they had done.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou all chose well,\u201d the tall King spoke, \u201cbut we\u2019ve made the better choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe chalice of dear Calontir.\u201d came Issabell\u2019s sweet voice.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut how can mugs strike down a foe?\u201d Came Dragon Queen\u2019s deride.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can a\u00a0cup\u00a0defend a land,\u201d said Northshield by her side.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat wisdom can a chalice bring?\u201d the lupine Queen put out,<\/p>\n

As each royal couple\u2019s face revealed their open doubts.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThe battles of the future won,\u201d Issabell relayed,<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd a\u00a0cup\u00a0defends our future, though the benefits delayed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The King spoke then \u201cIn Calontir for the chalice we are wild.<\/p>\n

For in Calontir the chalice represents the greatness of the child.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cFor the child will be the sword in hand for future victory.<\/p>\n

And the salvation of our land will fall to warriors yet to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Issabell took her lord\u2019s hand and in bell-like voice she spoke,<\/p>\n

\u201cFor we all know that each acorn is someday a mighty oak.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Crowns of all the friendly realms put forth no more voice,<\/p>\n

For each among them knew their kin had made the greatest choice.<\/p>\n

And as one the dragon, griffon, and the wolf lifted praises up,<\/p>\n
