The true philosophers long distinguished the practical from the theoretical, seeing the virtue in and recognizing the necessity of both. So, too the Kingdom of Calontir values both those who expand the theories of the Kingdom, and those who with a noble and disciplined disposition tend to the lands and people. Those who do not just love the contemplation of the eternal and unchanging but love to ensure the unceasing and ordered passage of the years of the Falcon.
Orren, noble King of philosophy, and Lyra, learned Queen of science, have studied closely the true wisdom and the populace. Through those observations they have found one whose work is as regular as the transit of stars, and as reliable as the rising of the sun. Jon Chesey has calculated the movement of the spheres and ministered to the Triopotamians and the Kingdom with the service of the quill, the golden key, and with his knowledge of the elements of matter. Wishing to put all things in their proper place they therefore name him to the Order of the Cross of Calontir, the tenders of all right movements.
Done on the 8th day of February, in the 1,855th year since the passing of the great philosopher Claudius Ptolemy, being the 59th year of the Society.

(Notes: Text is adapted from the Almagest by Claudius Ptolemy, the astronomical work Jon has dedicated years to working with. The opening line before the comma is taken almost directly from it, as is the line about a noble and disciplined disposition.
Triopotamian is a demonym I have created for the populace of Three Rivers, combining Trio (3) with the Greek Potamios, of or from a river. Service of the quill, the golden key, and the elements of matter refers to his service as chronicler, gold key, and web minister.)
